EPA Allows Ethanol Makers to Register E15

03 April 2012

US - the US federal government announced yesterday that manufacturers can register as suppliers of the E15 ethanol blend, moving closer to allowing wide distribution of the fuel.

The Environmental Protection Agency is moving the process forward, however there are still rigorous tests to be passed before the E15 blend can become a registered fuel throughout individual states.

Currently ethanol fuel for transport is only 10 per cent ethanol and 90 per cent gas.

The new E15 blend would only be allowed for use in vehicles made from 2001 onwards.

20 ethanol makers have registered so far to sell the E15 blend.
