Kaveri Seeds Sign MoU with Haryana Varsity

INDIA - Hyderabad based Ganga Kaveri Seeds has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) for marketing seeds, writes Jagdish Kumar.

Under the agreement, the university has granted the company a non-exclusive license for a period of five years for production and marketing of seed of two hybrids of maize namely HM-9 and HM-10 developed by them.

The MoU was signed by Dr. S.S. Siwach, director of research of CCSHAU and N Jagan Mohan Rao on behalf of the seed company.

This is the eighth MoU the university signed for maize hybrids with Andhra Pradesh based seed companies.

Siwatch said both the maize hybrids are high yielding crops.

The average grain yield of HM-9 is 60 quintal per hectare, whereas it is 72 quintal per hectare of HM-10.

Besides, both the hybrids are resistant against major diseases.

Ganga Kaveri Seeds currently produces wide variety of seeds, which includes, wheat, paddy, cotton, maize, sunflower, pearl millet, sorgum and mustard.

It has production and processing facilities at Karimnagar, Armoor and Medchal in Andhra Pradesh state & Rudrapur in Uttarkhand state and Jaipur in Rajasthan state.

The company which has over 187 distributors and 550 dealers has a production and processing capacity of 20000 tonnes per annum and capacity storage facilities of 12000 tonnes.
