Jaya Automotive Unveils 100 HP tractor at Agri Intex 201405 August 2014
INDIA - Coimbatore based auto manufacturer, Jaya automotive have unveiled India’s first high powered tractor Jaya 100 HP at the 14th edition of Agri Intex 2014 on July 18, 2014.
The 100HP tractor is the first biggest tractor in the country, which is expected to hit the market in the next few months.
Speaking to Jagdish Kumar, Jaya Automotive chairman, B Jayachandran said, “The tractor is the first European style machine , which will be launched in September or October 2014 with a price tag of Rs 1.9 million rupees (around $32,000).”
“The tractor can save considerable amount of time that will cater to big farmers and contract farmers. It can plow three acres of land in just half hour, as compared to three acres in three hours for 60HP tractors that are being used today,” Jayachandran adds.
“We have been holding trial for the last 18 months in many location in the country and have received many feedback for our tractors that has been includes in the finished tractors,” Jayachandran stressed.
Jayachandran also said that the tractors fuel consumption is two liters per acres and 10 to 14 liters per hour and has a maximum speed of 35 km to 40 km.
The chairman did not comment on how many orders it has received, but said that they are looking to sell two tractors every month after the launch.
The four cylinder machine is powered by Tata 497 turbo engine with the lifting capacity of 2.5 tonnes. The machine has the fuel capacity of 135 liters and runs on 38 inches rear tyres and 24 inches front tyres.
When asked why there was a need to launch an high power tractor, Chandran said, In India 67 per cent of land depends on rain for agriculture, if you have a high power tractors, you can save time in plowing the field that can help you show seeds at right time, cutting time and costs.
