Highlights

March 2015 contained 31 days.

April 2015 contained 30 days.

May 2015 contained 31 days.

Extra long staple cotton consumed on the cotton system was 859 thousand pounds in May 2015, down 14 percent from April 2015 and down 14 percent from March 2015. May stocks on hand on the last Saturday of the month totaled 1.8 million pounds down 7 percent from April but up 47 percent from March.

Total Manmade fiber consumed on the cotton system was 37.0 million pounds during May 2015, up 5 percent from April 2015 and up 16 percent from March 2015. Of the total manmade fiber consumed, over 90 percent was polyester staple.

Total number of spindles on the cotton system was 1.12 million during May 2015. Active spindles consuming 100 percent cotton was 606 thousand in April 2015, up slightly from April 2015 and up 2 percent from March 2015.
