Mexican Buyer Secures Largest Corn Deal for 21 Years

US & MEXICO - The largest foreign purchase of US corn for more than 20 years has been made to a customer in Mexico, as corn conditions continue to decline across the US following months of dry weather.

The sale of 1.5 million tonnes is reportedly to a commercial customer and comes as the US remains gripped by the worst drought since 1956.

Mexico is the world’s second-largest corn importer following Japan.

In the past week, US corn conditions have declined yet again with only three per cent overall considered in excellent condition.
