Thai Rice Export Prices Unchanged

THAILAND - During week 47 of 2012, rice export prices have remained unchanged compared to the previous week as a result of quiet trading.

According to the USDA's Thailand Weekly Rice Price Update, the government of Thailand intends to export 1.1 million metric tons of its fragrant rice and white rice stocks from December 2012 to February 2013.

It is expected that the stocks will consist of 0.6 million metric tons of new-crop fragrant rice pledged under the MY2012/13 Paddy Pledging Program, while the remainder will comprise white rice from the MY2011/12 program.

During 12 to 18 November 2012, unofficial rice exports dropped 16,485 metric tons from the previous week and was also down 7,001 metric tons from the four-week moving average of 132,422 metric tons. Also, during 1 January to 18 November, white and parboiled rice exports went down 42.4 per cent compared to last year.
