NFU: RFS Provides Stabilty for Industry Investors

09 August 2013

US - National Farmers Union (NFU) President Roger Johnson sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy in support of this week's announcement of the final 2013 Renewable Obligations for the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).

Mr Johnson said: “We are pleased that EPA is exercising appropriate flexibility in implementing the RFS,” said Johnson. “This demonstrates that the statute is working as intended, and that legislative changes to the RFS are unnecessary when there is already enough authority built in for EPA to react to market conditions.”

“The RFS is a crucial tool to reducing our reliance on foreign oil, and provides America’s farmers and rural communities with new economic opportunities,” Johnson continued. “A stable policy environment provides investors with certainty so that they can help to commercialize the next generation of biofuels.”
