Sweden's Largest Anaerobic Digestion Plant at Jordberga

16 April 2013

SWEDEN - Sweden's largest anaerobic digestion plant for the production of biogas will be built at Jordberga in southern Skåne.

The majority shareholder is SBI, Swedish Biogas International and other partners are E.ON, Skåne Biofuel Company and Nordic Sugar.

SBI will build and operate the production facilities for biogas and have responsibility from raw material up to the upgraded biogas.

The raw material for biogas is mainly locally produced green fodder in Jordberga area.

The plant will produce 110 GWh of biogas (11.7 million Nm3 of biogas automotive quality) per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 28,000 tons a year. This is equivalent to the emissions from 300 city buses.

Delivery will take place in the autumn to be completed in early December 2013.

The upgraded gas will be fed to the gas to be used among other things as vehicle fuel.

The plant is being built at the old sugar mill in Jordberga, located 15 km east of Trelleborg.

“It feels great inspiring to have been selected as one of SBI's partner in this project. Our long experience, the custom-built modules, the achieved performance values ??with the high availability of similar facilities feels like it has paved the way for the possibility,” said Erik Malmberg, Export Manager Malmberg Biogas, which will deliver the technology for the plant.
