Is EU Maize Losing its Competitiveness?

EU - EU maize has maintained its position as the most competitive EU feed grain, when compared with feed wheat and feed barley, since October.
However, the latest prices show that maize appears to be drifting closer to barley’s price position.
As at 2 April, EU maize, delivered to Rotterdam was €174.50/t, which equated to a discount of only €1.50/t against feed barley (compared with a gap of €18/t during December).
With trade data showing that UK maize imports fell to their lowest volume in February in six months, it appears that maize could be falling out of favour for domestic feed demand.
