GM Trials for Western Australia

AUSTRALIA - CISRO is to plant the first trials of GM barley in Western Australia shortly.

Trials of GL wheat and barley were planted in New South Wales last year and the research body has applied to the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator to extend the trials according to ABC.

The trials involve three varieties of barley and 11 of wheat to be grown in the wheat belt.

The barley has ben modified to increase nitrogen uptake.
