US - There is little surprise in this week's USDA Crop Progress Report with corn up 5 percentage points to 99 per cent planted as of June 12, writes Sarah Mikesell, senior editor of TheCropSite.com.

Ohio, the state everyone has been watching, had a robust jump going from 58 per cent planted last week to 97 per cent planted. Pennsylvania is still a bit behind at 93 per cent planted. However many key corn states, like Iowa, Kansas, Nebaraska and Missouri, are showing 100 per cent planted.

This week's 99 per cent average planted acres (across the top 18 states) is on par with the 5-year average.

Corn emergence was boosted to 91 per cent, only 5 points under the 5-year average of 96 per cent emerged.

Soybeans

Soybean planting progress was up to 87 per cent planted, now just 2 percentage points under the 5-year average of 89 per cent.

Wheat

Spring wheat planting saw a 9 per cent increase and is currently at 88 per cent planted. However, it's still under the 5-year average of 100 per cent planted.
