Animal Feed Statistics for Great Britain - June 2014
Key points:
- In June 2014 the total GB retail production of animal feed was up 2.0% compared with June 2013
- In June 2014 the total GB raw material usage in the retail production of animal feed was up 1.7% compared with June 2013, with a slightly higher cereal incorporation rate. There was proportionately more barley and maize being used as a replacement to wheat in the feed ration
- In June 2014 the total GB integrated feed production was down -4.0% compared with June 2013
- June 2014 data represents the final months returns for the 2013/14 crop year. Due to the small wheat harvest of 2013, this crop year has seen increased usage of barley and maize, substituting feed wheat due to its availablity and dietary suitablility as a replacement.
- For the period April to June 2014 quarterly average prices of animal feedingstuffs were as follows:-
Cattle and calf feed - £236 per Tonne
Pig feed - £260 per Tonne
Poultry feed - £280 per Tonne
Sheep feed - £239 per Tonne - With the exception of cattle and calf feed, this period shows the average price of compound feed increasing since the previous quarter
